It is with great sadness that we would like to share that Sandra Lee Schafer died peacefully in her sleep on Friday December 7, 2018. Sandy has been involved with Camp Raising Spirits since its inception in 1994 and the last 10 years as Co-chair. Camp Raising Spirits is a service project of the Greater Pittsburgh Chapter of the Oncology Nursing Society. She was deeply involved in the local cancer care community as a founding member of the ONS Pittsburgh Chapter, serving as its first president from 1985–1986 and in other roles in later years.
Sandy was a mentor and role model for many in the oncology nursing community and will be greatly missed.
